It communicates with the vehicle engine ECU to enable optimum adjustment of key engine parameters, such as exhaust gas recirculation, air/ fuel mixed ratio, and after-treatment injection to reduce nitric oxide emissions. They are equipped on diesel passage cars, commercial trucks and off-highway vehicles.
In diesel passenger cars and light trucks, it is used in conjunction with the exhaust after-treatment systems for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and NOx Storage Catalyst (NSC). It also has applications in SCR systems commonly used in heavy-duty trucks. The sensor is mounted behind the exhaust gas purifier as bellow diagram. The performance of the exhaust gas purifier is monitored by feeding back detected NOx values to the ECU.Once the NOx sensor detects the amount of Nitrogen Oxide reaches the set value, the control circuit of NOx sensor will transmit signals to the engine ECU, and then the engine ECU will signal the Urea injector to inject Urea solution to the emission system. Injected Urea solution will have chemical reaction under high temperature, and then reduce the emission of those harmful gas, and reach the standards of Automobile Exhaust Gas Regulations.
Two very significant features of NOx sensors:
1) NOx Sensor enables adjustment of key engine parameters to reduce nitric oxide emissions.
2) Ideal for auto and heavy truck applications to help optimize the trade-off between emissions reductions and fuel economy.
